Monica spent almost 20 years teaching and travelling overseas, in seven different countries in Asia, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Her memoir is full of the sights, smells and beauty of these places and also the cultural differences in each location.

First, there is excellent training available, and it has been proven that you can learn your whole life. Secondly, a lot of cultures respect their elders, and thirdly, most countries have a little English due to colonialism and speak a mixture of English and their own language, for example, Chinglish in China. A lot of schools have teaching assistants to help out in the classroom.
