DOWNTOWN PRINCE GEORGE WINS “BEST IN THE WEST” AWARDS AT THE
2018 BIABC + IDA PACIFIC NORTHWEST CONFERENCE IN KELOWNA!
Downtown Prince George is pleased to announce that they were the proud recipients of three (3) awards at the “Best in the West Awards”, as part of the annual Business Improvement Areas of British Columbia + IDA Pacific Northwest Regional Conference hosted from April 22nd to 25th in Kelowna, B.C. The awards were presented at the Awards Reception on Tuesday April 24th.
This annual celebration of excellence invites BIA’s to present their projects, initiatives, partnerships, promotions or campaigns that have made a measurable difference in their communities. The comprehensive awards criteria ensure that winning submissions include unique initiatives, specific results and implementation details that other BIA’s can learn from and that set a high standard of achievement and success.
The awards program features several categories for BIA’s to showcase their best work. The comprehensive list of categories includes: Economic & Business Development, Special Events, Programming & Partnerships, Sustainability, Marketing and Communications to not only recognize successes, but to also share ‘best practices’ amongst BIA’s in British Columbia, Alberta and the Pacific Northwest.
The “Open for Business” project showcased the partnerships between Downtown Prince George, the City of Prince George, Tourism Prince George and Northern Development Initiative Trust, specifically highlighting the shared resources and collaboration that went into supporting projects such as the façade improvement grant, event hosting, Love Downtown PG and downtown revitalization efforts. This initiative was awarded the AWARD OF EXCELLENCE in the category of Programming & Partnerships as well as the AWARD OF MERIT in the category of Economic and Business Development. The “Downtown Winterfest” event was also recognized with an AWARD OF EXCELLENCE in the category of Special Events.
“Downtown Prince George has had remarkable success with many of our events and partnerships and we thought it was time to share our successes with our industry colleagues.” says Eoin Foley, President, Downtown Prince George. “We are ecstatic to be recognized by our industry association and thank all of our partners for supporting our downtown in these initiatives.”
“We are proud of our downtown community and the collaborative efforts, support and expertise from our partners, stakeholders and downtown businesses”, says Colleen Van Mook, Executive Director, Downtown Prince George. “These awards show us that we really are doing great things for our downtown.”
