The Western Family Stringband are a collective of West Coast musicians who came together over a shared love of traditional traditional folk music, songwriting, and square dancing. The members consist of Bex Winnick (fiddle), Tereza Tomek (bass), Josh Lichti (banjo) and Craig Marcuk (guitar/mandolin).
At a Western Family Stringband show you can expect a high-energy set of foot stompin’ folk music. You will hear traditional styles of bluegrass, old-time Appalachia and contemporary Canadian folk songs written by members of the band. You may also find yourself yelling “FIRE IN THE HOLE!” and kicking up dust during a few square dance numbers.
The band will be touring Northern BC and Alberta for the second summer in a row to bring live music and square dancing to hard working Tree planters living in bush camps, with stops at some of their favourite watering holes and towns along the way. Come join the hoe-down at Nancy O’s Friday July 6th!
